The Area
May’s Cottage is situated along a quiet country lane. It is however convenient for exploring the many National Trust properties in Kent and Sussex. Such as Sissinghurst, Bodium and Scotney castles, Knole and Ightam Moat. Leeds castle is only 8 miles away. We are within easy reach of Canterbury, Rochester and Dover, and about one hour drive from the Channel tunnel and Ferry to France. London is only one hour by train from Staplehurst station.
There is an abundance of diverse bird life to be seen, as the mainly grassland farm is bounded by the river Beult to the south, and has two areas of broad leaf woodland of its own. At night you may see or hear the Barn owl which has a nesting box in one of our barns, and the Tawny owls, and Little owls which live nearby.
You are welcome to fish the river Beult, for which we have exclusive rights on our side of the water.
For walkers, the Greensand Way is just half a mile to the north, and there are many other footpaths which can be accessed from the farm.

Sue & Paul
The farm used to be a fully working sheep farm where Sue & Paul have lived for many years. The Granary was converted from an old farm building in 2002/2003 and now serves as their home.
